We think
a "top 10" list is in order here:
1. Expert music consultation to create a
sound that’s right for your business
2. ASCAP, BMI and SESAC in-store license
fees paid
3. A virtually unlimited library of music
to choose from. If it’s out there, we’ll find
it.
4. Ability to modify your music mix quickly and easily –
maybe throw in some love songs for Valentines Day, some cool
summertime oldies in July or (of course) holiday music during
the, er, holidays.
5. Custom ‘between the songs’ promos, messages,
employee greetings, or IDs for your business – if you
want them.
6. A live, real-time broadcast to
all of your locations at once. You can even go online and
see what’s playing in your stores right now.
7. Seamless, smooth cross-fades between songs
just like radio.
8. You can post your In-Store Radio station on your website
for all to hear.
9. Simple “plug and play” receiver that’s
locked in to your channel.
10. You’ve got the dedicated customchannels.net team
at your back -real people with real experience. Got a request?
We’ll get it on for you!
OK, so we could go on and on. But you get the idea. If music
is important to your business, CustomChannels.net can deliver
the goods with fast, friendly service.

and how important the right music can be to a company’s

their brands. We’re small and scrappy – yes, that’s
a good thing because we take your business seriously. We’re

| My
own radio station? It sounds expensive - is it? |
| |
| Of course you expect to pay more for
a custom tailored suit than just something off the rack at J.C.
Penny’s – and custom music services are no different.
Yes, it costs more than satellite. But getting exactly what
you want for your business’s sound and image doesn’t
need to break the bank. CustomChannels.net In-Store Radio is
competitively priced with your business’s budget in mind.
And, being a small business ourselves, we’re very happy
to do everything we can accommodate the needs of small and medium
size businesses. The best way to find out whether CustomChannels
In-Store Radio is right for you is to request
a quote. We’ll get back to you right away with an
answer. |

| For what kinds
of businesses is CustomChannels In-store Radio best? |
| |
| CustomChannels.net
In-Store Radio is designed for businesses with five or more
locations that are really picky about the music that gets
played in their store or restaurant. If you’re a muffler
shop (no offense if you are), you may not really care that
much about the music that’s played in your shop –
the classic rock station on FM radio might be just fine. But
if you’re trying to create a mood and a unique shopping
or dining experience, chances are the music and messages that
come out of the speakers overhead is important to you. If
so, CustomChannels may be right for your business or website.

| |
| What’s
different about CustomChannels In-Store Radio and other music
services? |
| |
| With most music services
you either get a satellite feed of pre-programmed music channels
or you get a hard drive or CD player preloaded with music and
playlists.
CustomChannels In-Store Radio combines the best features
of each of these technologies. It really is like having your
own radio station with a music format designed specifically
for you! Some points:
With satellite you have no control over the playlist. Sure,
you can change channels to find what you want, but what a
pain! With CustomChannels In-Store Radio you know that only
the music and imaging you want is being broadcast to the store.
And because your receiver is locked in your radio station,
you don’t have to worry about that store clerk who’s
always flipping over to the Heavy Metal Channel because she’s
bored with the music. CustomChannels In-Store Radio doesn’t
have 80 channels to choose from. We have one channel: yours.
With “Hard media” (CD or hard drive based systems)
you may have control over the playlist. But often, you may
find yourself limited in music selection due to licensing
issues. CustomChannels.net operates more like a radio station
with access to a virtually unlimited music library for your
station. With Hard Media it can take days or weeks to update
music and content in your store. With CustomChannels.net we
can update your In-Store Radio before the next song plays!

| |
| Can't
I just play my CDs, local radio or iPod? |
| |
They aren’t branded
specifically to YOU. Sure there are some great radio
stations out there and you’re going to naturally love
your own hand-picked music from your iPod. But, keep
in mind that unless you have paid the appropriate licenses,
you may be illegally broadcasting music. It can cost several
thousand dollars per violation of songs on your iPod that
have aired in your store – a tough bill to
pay when you have several hundred songs on your iPod. For
more information on the legalities of music licensing, please
visit our licensing
page.
But, there’s more. If you are listening to local radio,
there is a possibility that your own competitor’s
ad may air in your store. Not only are you supporting
their cause, but you’re not allowing your own personalized
messaging to be heard by people that chose to walk into your
business. In addition to other company’s commercial
breaks being broadcast over your speakers, radio’s quality
may be inconsistent, the songs repetitious or inappropriate
content for your specific customers. iPods are great (assuming
you can somehow tackle the legalities) because you can control
a specific playlist and the quality is probably very good.
However, you’d be missing out on your messaging capability
and someone has to physically tend to your computer to prevent
stoppage and a great mix.
CustomChannels In-store Radio already covers all
the licensing costs so you have nothing to worry
about. We also allow you to place your own individualized
messaging in your hand-picked music selection so you don’t
hear commercial breaks, song repetition or low-quality sound.
And, we’re music fanatics, so we can take the artists
you already know and love and help expand your music selection. |

| |
| Satellite
says they have over 70 channels of commercial free music channels.
How many different music channels do you offer? |
| |
| We offer one channel: YOURS.
‘Nuf said. |

| |
| I’m
a big Beatles fan. The music service I use tells me they can’t
get Beatles songs for my in-store music. As a matter of fact,
it seems there are a lot of cool songs I’d like to play
that they can’t provide. Can you get me those songs for
my In-Store Radio? |
| |
| Yes. If you’re using
another music service for your in-store playlists, chances are
their music library is limited to stuff they have licensed from
the big record labels. Getting songs licensed take a lot of
work, time and money. But CustomChannels.net In-Store Radio
operates more like a real radio station that operates under
“blanket” licenses. So, if a recording is available
to the public, chances are we have it or can find it and get
it on for you right away. (Just don’t ask us to play your
bootleg Grateful Dead recordings from that concert in ’77,
deal?). |

| |
| How
do custom IDs and messages work? |
| |
| Some clients want just music
and nothing else on their In-Store Radio - and that’s
fine. But if you want to trick out your station with in-store
messages, custom IDs, or even promos for some of your key products
between the songs, it’s no problem. Every custom In-Store
Radio station comes with an optional free starter package of
twelve custom IDs to give your station a fully branded, custom
sound.
After that, you can use our in-house voice talent to produce
simple, timely messages and schedule them for you on the fly,
usually at no charge. Don’t like our voices? We won’t
take it personally. You can send us your own audio files or
we can set you up with great voice talent, full-on production
packages and even jingles to get you exactly the sound you
want for your station. Yes, custom production and voice work
is at an additional cost, but we’ll work with you to
get you a great sound to meet your budget.

| I
own a franchise and most of the other franchisees just play
satellite radio in their stores. How can I get the other franchisees
to do CustomChannels In-Store Radio? I think it would be cool
if we had our own radio station just for our brand. |
| |
| Yes, that IS a cool idea.
Drop
us a note with your contact information and the name of
the person at your franchisor that handles marketing or brand
marketing. We’ll be happy to follow up with them directly
and pitch the idea on getting more franchisees on board. If
we get the business, you’ll get a nice thank-you gift! |

| I’m
locked into a long-term contract with “another”
music provider. Does CustomChannels.net require long-term contracts? |
| |
| First, we’re sorry
to hear about your long-term contract with the “other”
provider - you might look it over and see if there’s an
“out” you’re not aware of. To answer your
question, CustomChannels.net generally requires a one-year
commitment. If you ask really nice, we’ll even
put in a clause that says if you don’t love your CustomChannels.net
In-Store Radio in the first three months, we’ll let you
out of the deal. Obviously, we’re betting you’re
not going to want to do that! |

| |
| How
do I change the music on my In-Store Radio station? |
| |
| Tell us.
It’s that easy. It’s your business, so why would
you not want complete control over everything associated with
it? If you have a request for a song that should be blasting
from your speakers, or a song that should never be played in
your business again – let us know and we’ll make
sure the song is added or removed immediately. What if it’s
early December and you want some holiday-themed songs in your
business but you don’t want holiday music all day long?
Just let us know and we can arrange your music to fit your needs. |

| |
| How
does my station get into my store? |
| |
| Pure magic. OK, maybe not
real magic, but it’s close. Actually, it’s simple.
We stream your CustomChannels In-Store Radio station over the
Internet to a secret decoding box that’s set up to receive
just your station. Simply plug your decoding box into your Internet
connection and your sound system and, like magic, your station
begins playing. That’s it. Your music, delivered to you
and to your customers, streaming 24/7. |
| |
| |
| Do
you cover licensing and broadcast fees? |
| |
| Yes. What
else is there to say? Yes we do. When we build and deliver your
customized music mix to your store and/or website we cover all
associated licensing fees (ASCAP, BMI, SESAC) so you can get
back to focusing on what you do best – running your business.

| |
| What
does my business need for CustomChannels In-Store Radio? |
| |
| You need a sound system
and a broadband Internet connection with an Ethernet cable available
near your sound system. We will send you a CustomChannels decoding
unit pre-programmed to receive your In-Store Radio station.
The decoding
unit just plugs into your sound system like a CD player
or iPod. |
| |

| |
| Will
I need to get a new Internet connection? |
| |
| If your business has a DSL,
cable or T-1 broadband connection now that you use for credit
card transactions, P.O.S., phone calls, web browsing and email,
you should be able to use your existing connection for your
In-Store Radio without any problem. Today’s broadband
Internet connections have far more capacity than most businesses
use or need on a regular basis and your CustomChannels In-Store
radio only uses a small portion of that bandwidth. If you have
limited Internet connectivity or have other high-traffic uses
of your broadband connection (such as free public WiFi), talk
with us about technical solutions to meet your needs. |

| |
| Is
music delivery over the Internet reliable? |
| |
| In a word, yes. It would
have been hard to imagine just a few years ago how much so many
things we do today would be dependent on the Internet working
all the time. The companies that provide Internet service (your
local ISP, phone and cable companies) are in an extremely competitive
business where near 100% uptime has become a basic consumer
expectation - especially for business service. So they’ve
invested a lot in making sure your Internet connection, like
your phone service, is there all the time (in fact many businesses,
like CustomChannels, depend on their internet connection for
phone service, i.e. VoIP).
If your Internet connection at your business is not reliable
or is exceedingly slow, don’t blame the Internet. First
have your internal network and computers checked out. If that’s
not the problem, blame your ISP. Shop around. There are plenty
of companies out there hungry for your business.
Bottom line, from our over eight years of experience in internet
streaming technologies, we believe the Internet has arrived
as a reliable, efficient and flexible way to deliver high
quality music to your business.

| |
| How
secure is having CustomChannels.net In-Store Radio on my store’s
computer network? |
| |
| It’s far more secure
than having a PC on your network. If you’re asking this
question, you probably won’t mind if we use a bit of jargon,
so here goes. The decoding unit has no operating system or hard
drive (the usual target of hackers); it simply decodes the stream
and plays it out through the audio jacks. Assuming the decoding
box is behind your firewall or router, it’s invisible
to the outside world (even us). It comes pre-programmed with
the address of your specific channel, so the decoding box (not
our server) initiates the connection to your stream. CustomChannels.net
uses the latest Windows Media and Shoutcast servers located
in a hardened, secure data center in Denver, utilizing the technical
backend of renown streaming provider Liquid
Compass. If you have questions or concerns about the technology
or our network, please contact
us and we’ll give you all the details! |
